Quiet Moment
On the first day back from winter break, we relaxed while listening to an excerpt from our science text on animal adaptation. The kids sat on the rug and strung popcorn onto wire for the birds who didn't migrate away this year. Afterwards, we tromped around to the back of the school, where our back windows look out into the wooded area, and hung our popcorn strings onto a little evergreen tree just outside our classroom window. When we came in, the kids wanted to watch the tree to see if any birds would come, but I had scheduled 10 minutes of reading our chapter books for that time...so, we compromised! Here are our little sweeties reading their chapter books while facing the window, on the lookout for hungry birds.
